Vittore Carpaccio

Venetian School. Born c. 1460/65, of the Venetian fanilly Scarpazza; died 1523/26. He was influenced chiefly by Giovanni Bellini, of whom he may have been at one time an assistant. Influence of Antonello da Messina probably came mainly through Bellini. Carpaccio was a master of narrative in rich harmonious coloring.
